Our History

Arley Cabinet Co. Limited was founded in 1952 by Mr Percy Fletcher. He chose the name ARLEY as that is the place he used to go fishing on the canal.

Mr Fletcher used to make free standing furniture the old way with real wood and joints and hand polish in a small factory at Britannia Bridge, Ince. With the invention of a brand new board called 'Conti Board' the furniture industry changed.

Mike joined Mr Fletcher in 1973, followed by his brother Paul a year later. They where both trained under Mr Fletcher before he retired.

Arley Kitchens and Bedrooms, as it is now known, is Wigan's longest established fitted furniture company, and have seen many competitors come and go over the years.

As the business expanded the factory at Ince became too small and so was moved to the 'Old Picture House', Gidlow Lane, Springfield, in May 1984 , and two years later a showroom extension was added.
